Snow Leoapard fast approaching.

With Snow Leopard fast approaching its a good time to clean up your system. With less than a $30 price tag its fair to assume that many more people will adopt this new cat earlier than in the past.

First things first though. Before even backing up your system lets do some quick research. First your gonna want to know if your applications that you use everyday are going to work properly. We stream software updates on this page from VerionTracker.com but it is a very good idea to look not only for your apps there but also on macupdate.com . Also another great place to find the latest news on things that could go wrong are on macfixit.com . as well as the forums for your application provider.

Your going to want to have a look at apps like old versions of photoshop etc that will require that you can run old PowerPC code. If that is the case your gonna need to install Rosetta as an optional install for those legacy applications that you can not live with out.

Once you know that your Apps are all ready its a good time to do some house cleaning and maintenance. Run disk Utility and run disk permissions repair. Then make sure you have backed everything up. We actually use carbon copy cloner and clone the whole boot drive to a firewire drive as a bootable image. This way if all goes wrong we can recover quickly.

Since 10.6 is going to Archive and install for you there is not going to be any confusion this time on what check box to check.

Remember "Murphy's Law" if anything can go wrong it will for a few folks so with some simple planning steps you be able move forward with confidence that you can always fallback.

We will be keeping updates in our forums of applications that may need to be upgraded as we find them

Rebuilding Macclick.com to address the needs of tight IT Budgets

We have been working with large listed companies Government Agencies for years. We are going to share the tips and tricks they use to control IT expenses. Many of our smaller companies think that they cant afford the IT Tools that the big companies are using. Well in many cases you can.

We are going to post many articles here on how we have integrated Macs into windows environments from desktops to servers. There are many benefits that come along with a mixed environment.

Our first inroads into windows environments 6 years ago was getting Apple xServes into companies. At first there was some objections to the cost of deploying xServes based on price. Yes they could have built a cheap linux box. We overcame this with a FREE Training for a current IT savvy supervisors (These were not and are still not professional IT experts) with a VNC connection to the servers or logged in directly they can administer the day to day needs of their companies. Many of these servers have been running for years and we will get a call on them once maybe in a year for software updates to applications we wrote for the client. Many we have yet to be called for any issues at all.
